Message for year 6 – I am having issues with my laptop at the moment- it keeps crashing every few minutes (not good timing at all). I have reported the problem to our tech team so hopefully will be sorted soon. In the meantime, if you send me an email and I don’t respond for a while, this is why. I will get back to you as I can and when my laptop decides it’s not going to crash.
Learning will still be added to the webpage daily.
Thursday 2nd April 2020
Re-read chapter five if you need to refresh your memory and then answer the following questions about what you have read:
- Why do you think the trip that Lupe is going on is to be kept a secret?
- How do you think Lupe felt when Isabella was telling her about Cata?
- Does Lupe feel guilt/blame? Why/why not?
- Should she feel like this? Why/why not?
- Is it really her fault? Why/why not?
- Does Isabella really mean what she is saying?
- Why did she say it?
Add this situation to your emotions chart for Isabella.
Mini-maths week 26 – (Try to time yourself – 6 minutes on a Thursday). You can either print off the sheets or write the answers in your maths jotter.
Spend 30 minutes on Maths Whizz and 20 minutes on TTRockstars.
***PLEASE refrain from helping your child to get an answer correct on Maths Whizz. The programme is designed so that it gives the children a personalised programme. If they do understand something it will then register that they know these type of questions and will move on to more difficult ones. If they don’t understand, they will be given more help/practice through tutor mode until they have grasped the concept. I know it is difficult watching your child if he/she is getting frustrated so if you want to support them, why not photograph the question or make a note of it, then encourage them to have a go. You can always have a look at the ones they got stuck on together later.
In these new circumstances, this is the closest thing we could provide, that teaches to the individual child’s needs so please ensure it continues to do so by NOT helping them with the answers at the time. If you do help them, the work will very quickly become beyond their understanding and, the way things stand, we could be learning from home for quite a while.
